In the case of this second model, the kit had been purchased as part of an estate sale and was mysteriously missing both its engine and nosewheel strut. (Kit collectors sometimes do weird things with their models.)
Very luckily for my friend, I had produced molds of the engine from my earlier Cessna and was able to reproduce a resin copy suitable for a model with an enclosed cowling. Scratchbuilding a new nosewheel strut was straightforward due to their tubular construction.
