About two years ago I scratchbuilt a 1/35 model of the runabout ship seen on the DS-9 series. I was to learn from the designer himself, Rick Sternbach, that the ship featured on the show was considerably changed from the design which had already been approved. (It seemed that the producers decided at the last minute that the ship needed to have its engines mounted outboard so as to look more “Trek-Like”.)
So based only on Rick’s sketches from 1992, I constructed a second runabout, this one more in line with his original idea.
